Buying New Carpet:
Remember that purchasing new floors does not mean ignoring
maintenance. In fact, now that you have spent thousands on flooring,
you have all the more reason for keeping it looking new. Make sure to
purchase 100% Nylon carpets when possible for best wear and tear.
Also, request them to have at least a stain resistant guarantee and a
medium to high quality cushion underneath (unless installing
commercial carpet). Earth tones tend to last the longest while
appearing clean. Single colors are harder to keep looking clean and
spots are very obvious. Looped nap (like berber carpet or commercial
carpet) are hardy and keep soils more on the surface. Cut nap is
easier to vacuum clean, but has a deeper area for soils to penetrate.
Olefin fabrics can wear and tear faster, with permanent traffic ways
present even after professional steam cleaning.
